why Inglewood ?

the family property was called Inglewood... it was situated in little village called Wallabadah via Quirindi in northern country New South Wales - I never saw it. It was the property of my great-great grandparents - Richard Braid Ingall (known as R B Ingall) - *he was a sheep farmer* and Sarah Lobsey, whose grand-daughter was my much loved nana - Jean Ingall Franks. I am lucky that my mum got to visit as a child and can tell me tales of her memories of times spent there. A book has been written on the Ingall family as they were pioneers in that district, owning alot of property at one stage.

*my great, great grandfather was Richard (standing) and his wife Sarah (Mrs Richard)*

I often wonder why they chose the name Inglewood for the property - meaning *English Wood or the wood of the Angles* - Inglewood a town just near Carlisle in the UK, apparently. Near where Daisy lived.... I have been told that the some of the Ingalls were of Scottish descent... I have traced some of these relatives back to Howell Parish, County of Lincoln, England and one back to Balnaboth, Forfar Shire, Scotland *no wonder I feel like I belong in the UK! ..... so when I moved to my cottage here in Woodford - that was the name I chose to call it - Inglewood. It seemed perfect....and my dear little home is perfect! I love it.

Wow Robyn
The Ingall Family picture
is a real treasure. My roots are all in the UK as well...I grew up knowing I was English-Scotch Irish....We are probably related somewhere way back when....

I think I like this best of all your blogs you have done Robyn. I don't know why. It just seems you have grown so much, you are so steady now. I think you have found yourself. I like it here, and your garden is peaceful; seems your mind is peaceful also. I went to the Croning place too.

This is a great picture Robyn. It's wonderful to see old photos of our families like this, way back when.
Inglewood is a lovely name, it sounds like a place faeries would live.

you seem to be finding your roots Robyn and that is a good thing it makes one feel more solid - more connected to the earth. I think if you visitied the Uk you would feel the connections there too.

That picture is great. Not everyone has such things from the past. I think it is great that you named your house after your old family homestead. Love Hugs and Blessings

What a marvellous photograph and with names too! Can your mum name any of the others on it? Inglewood is a lovely name for a cottage and having the family associations makes it even more special.
