a giftie for Imbolc and celtic lore

first of all I want to thankyou for your comments on my Holly lore post a few days ago. I was a little hesitant in doing that post - I didn't want anyone to think I was trying to take Daisy's place, I never will - but truly, I was her 'student' and I felt the need to do this for myself and it is wonderful that so many of you found it interesting.

with Imbolc coming up for me, the beginning of August, I am starting to plan my sacred ceremony and making my entry in my Book of Shadows.... I am planning on gifting away a little Imbolc package, along the same lines as the Yule gift I had awhile back - just comment here & you can be in the drawing. Closing date will be July 22nd - in time for me to get the package to my little wrens who sometimes deliver my mail and on its way....

I have been reading a book about Celtic Lore - '366 CELT ~ a year and a day of celtic wisdom and lore'.... it takes you on a journey through the year, using different paths - the path that I have been reading at the moment is the path of the anamchara, very interesting. I will share it all as soon as I have digested it - I had never heard of anamchara until I found Julie Marie's blog a few months ago and I didn't know it meant 'soul friend' until last night. There is so much for me to learn. There is so much that I want to read, to absorb, to soak up, like a sponge.....The more I learn, the more I lean towards the Celtic path.... of course with my own interpretation, but it sits right with me, you know? i didn't know that Cornwall was a celtic area.... where have I been all my life? my head must have been in the clouds - it seems that my blinkers have been taken off. I will probably go around in a circle, coming back to where I started and find that everything is connected in some way.. but what fun, learning! Many of you have commented on how grounded and peaceful I am now - yes, I do really have this peace to my soul right now - like it has all fallen into place...

Yesterday was cold, too cold to be going to the top of the mountain, so Thomas and I ended up going to Springwood for lunch.. we each had an egg and bacon sandwich for lunch - i had a coffee and Thomas had a 'red spider' - icecream topped with creaming soda... then we went to the $2 shop and I bought some craft & glitter bits. I also bought fresh vegetables to make some soup for dinner... I am still needing to finish of my elemental spirit doll and the invocation for my witch school homework. I will work on that today.

*~* I hope your day is filled with butterflies, magick, colour & fripperies! ~*~

I have always been interested in Celtic Lore although my knowledge is VERY limited. I have so many Celtic music CD's I listen to. Anam Cara (I'd not see it spelled Anamchara before, learnt something new here) is what I have on my side bar as the title to my blog link list. Isn't it the most wonderful thing..."soul friend"? That's what I think we all are - the ribbons that connect from one to another.
How old is Thomas? I fun to spend some time hanging out with your grandson. I'd love to see a pic of him sometime.
I am happy you have come to this good "place" within yourself.
XOXO
Love and hugs,
Lisa

Robyn,

I had meant to comment on the Holly blog - in fact, I thought I did :(, but I'll comment now. I love that you are continuing on with Daisy's tradition. I also used to see (and borrow) such beautiful pictures from her blog, and now you are bringing them to us. Please continue with the Celic lore. I will love to hear about Imbolic. Someone - I can't remember who (maybe even you!)-recommended John O'Donohue's Anam Cara book to me so I am going to order it off amazon.com

After a horrid 100 degrees on Saturday it has cooled off to a pleasant 70-something today.

You stay warm,

Julie

I think it is wonderful that you are giving away a gift for Imbolc/ As you know we will celbrate it as you know we will celebrate it as
Lammas/Lughnasadh. Time is flying past, and in doing so the wheel turns once again. (Sigh)
As for Celtic things I lean toward those teaches myself. I keep saying I am going to buy a celtic cross, but havent found one yet that I like well enough to pay for on the Inernet

It took me by surprise when I read about Imbolc comming up:) For us in the Northern hemisphere it's Lughnasadh and I keep forgetting tht you are the opposite way round to us - the other side of the Circle of the Year in fact. I hope you and Thomas are having fun together, grandchildren are great, you get all the fun side without the any of the not-quite-so-fun bits:) Will e-mail you this evening.

I love Celtic music, but don't know anything about Celtic Lore. Have fun with your crafting bits and glitter! :)

I'm going to live on soup today -- my tummy is feeling fragile!

There's a little piece of Cornwall in the package I'm sending you with the robin collage you won.

Having lived in Ireland for 6 years, I'm very familiar with Celtic lore...

I just adore that you're going to witch school and am so very envious in the nicest of ways. Please teach us! I know I'd love to learn more of what you know.

I'm an air sign actually (Aquarius) but I am the water bearer so I guess I should be surprised that I am so drawn to water.

How did I miss this - while working backwards I kept reminding myself to look for the Imbolc post you mentioned in your latest post - finally I'd worked my way back to the beginning of the new blog, and had to go back to find it! Must still be the effects of the retrograde, even though it's supposed to be officially over...

I've always been fascinated by Celtic lore - but I'm interested in ALL folklore, too - and yes, I think you're right - it's all interconnected.

You do sound so at peace now, Robyn, and I'm so happy that you've found that peace of mind and heart. I'm enjoying your writing - and though Daisy might have shared similar interesting information at times - you're sharing it with us in your own voice, in your own way, and I'm loving reading it!
Glad you had such a fun time with your grandson, too - sounds like you had a wonderful time.
XOXO
