great - call me hirsute

not only do I have to battle rage, hot flushes, night sweats but now I have a hair on my chin, which I was horrified to read is yet another 'symptom' of menopause... I was sitting eating dinner and casually brushed my chin and felt an odd thing on my face.. raced to the bathroom and horror of horrors a hair was poking out of my chin!

Hirsutism (from Latin hirsutus = shaggy, hairy) is the excessive hairiness on female humans in those parts of the body where terminal hair does not normally occur or is minimal - for example, a beard or chest hair

I can remember when I was a little girl seeing a hair poking out of my Nan's chin.. it horrified me.. I wondered why she didn't either pluck it out by the roots or at least have a shave...she seemed so old back then.. but now I realize that she must have been around my age and suffering from menopause!

lord, what next? liver spots?

Why, when we notice a change in our bodies, does it always have to be about outer beauty? If you think about what hair is really for, maybe we would be grateful that we are developing greater sensitivity to energy flow. Just a thought.

I wish I could tell you that menopause is not as horrid as it seems but in reality it sucks! No way to sugarcoat it...the only plus I have found is having no periods and some of the symptoms do eventually abate. Thank goodness I like who I am now in mind and spirit more than ever before because my body has turned traitor :(

This by-product of loss of hormones is the nastiest trick our bodies play on us as far as I'm concerned. I hate my chinny-chin-chin.

Just when you need your eyesight sharp as a tack for these little nasties, the eyesight fades...thank god sense of touch still holds out!! I'm in love with my little tweezers in the bathroom - we're good mates! Part of the support back-up along with the glasses. You need 'em on your team...that and a good friend, or,in my case, my Mum, she'll always tell me "Um..on your face". Thanks Mum.

I'm so sorry that you are having such a rough menopause. I was blessed to have a very easy one. I've had the hair for awhile now...and every morning have to do a little shave.

Pluck, don't shave. Shaving encouraged thicker and stronger hair growth and ends up bristles like in men. Lately, I've noticed some darker hairs starting to show up in the moustache region but I just pluck them when they appear....I keep meaning to get some Nair facial hair removal cream but keep forgetting probably because I've always hated the smell of Nair.

Robyn I've been plucking whiskers, have spotty skin, saggy boobs, the works. It's hard for a girl who has feminine wiles to keep. But worth it. I still want to look pretty
so I keep trying.

LOL! Welcome to the "getting older" club! I know it isn't a laughing matter but what can we do! I just try to find all the positives, most especially not having to deal with periods any more. Just pluck those darn hairs and keep on smiling!!

A good pair of tweezers are a must. I'm trying to view all this as positive and celebrate it. Although I'm shocked at how I've aged on the outside, I feel better on the inside than I've ever felt in my entire life. I just wish I could have had youth and peace of mind at the same time. Oh well.

Hair where it shouldn't be, skin relaxing, hot flushes, night sweats, the nobody loves mes, oh, fun fun fun. I upset my boss and felt like my job was threatened when I was going through a weird patch a few months back.

I've had moles on my face with hairs growing out of them since i was sixteen... I just tweeze them off periodically.

What matters as much as your body is your inner peace and growth, and those are radiant...
