ANZAC day, ANZAC biscuits & earth nurturers

today we attended the ANZAC march in Springwood...
here is a link to an older post at a previous blog.. ANZAC day 2007
[nothing much changed.. my heart swelled with pride as we clapped our heroes and the ladies still had ANZAC biscuits for sale and we bought a few packets.. yum. ]

here is a recipe for Anzac biscuits:

1 cup each of plain flour, sugar, rolled oats and coconut
4 oz butter
1 tablespoon treacle (golden syrup)
2 tablespoons boiling water
1 teaspoon carbonate soda (add a little more water if mixture is too dry)

Grease biscuit tray and pre heat oven to 180C. Combine dry ingredients. Melt together butter and golden syrup. Combine water and soda add to butter mixture. Mix butter mixture and dry ingredients. Drop teaspoons of mixture onto tray allowing room for spreading. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden. Allow to cool on tray for a few minutes before transferring to cooling racks

now that life has settled down into some kind of normalcy.. I am going to re vitalise the Earth Healing collective .. some of you may know about it, others don't.. but here is a link to the blog..
Healers of Earth
every now and then I will post a prompt for some earth healing.. and of course you can always do the healing/nurturing of Mother Earth yourself at anytime..

love the idea of the biscuits~i think i may well start my own anzac tradition each year with a little tea party.
given my australian and new zealand roots sprout from two large families i am more than sure they would have fought for their countries.

i am so glad earth healers will be revitalised :)

What a yummy sounding recipe, Robyn. And amazingly, I have everything in my cupboard to make it. I'm going to surprise Don this afternoon. Thanks.

I'm afraid my entire knowledge of Gallipoli comes from the old Mel Gibson movie but I know it is to Australia and New Zealand what the Battle of Vimy Ridge is to Canada. I've never heard of ANZAC biscuits before, so I looked them up on Wikipedia -- interesting!

I'm wondering if anzac biscuits are similar to what we call graham crackers, here in the states.
Will have to visit the Earth healing blog soon. She needs all the help she can get...xo
