Shrove Tuesday at Inglewood

yes, today is Pancake day or Fat Tuesday as it is called in France and I can see why.. if you go by what I ate for dinner tonight .. we went out to Pancakes on the Rocks.. with Sophie & boyfriend [the plumber]..

and of course we didn't just have one meal.. we had pancakes [potato pancakes no less] for dinner and crepes for dessert.. .. and now I will wear them on my double chin, [making that a triple], it will most probably end up on my jowls which i inherited from my Grandmother and most certainly arrive at various other places on my body - please God, don't let it go to my nose.. that is bulbous enough

[I think Fat Tuesday is the perfect name for this day. I will take it and run with the name next year] ..
tomorrow the beginning of Lent in the catholic church.. I must think of something to 'give up'. what do you think that will be ?

I bet you those pancakes were worth it. I love pancakes...all kinds, but never have them. My grandmother used to make pancakes and smother them with chicken and gravy. It was so, so good.

Don't people often give up "bad habits" for Lent? But surely you don't have any? she asked innocently!

How about adding instead? More prayer. More meditation. Keep more to the rules of fast and abstinence. I'm always a disaster in F and A. That is my big effort this year.

My Shrove Tuesday is starting out right. I ate breakfast at home. I always forget. Then I just skip it til later and have a too big lunch and a normal dinner. Argh.

Hi Robyn,
most of the times it is about giving up on the extras and keeping people in mind that have less. I think that is a great thing to do. I'm not Catholic, but I think it's a great thing to do this.
Have a wonderful day !!

Pancakes AND crepes! Yum! And don't worry. It was only one meal. It's not like you eat pancakes and crepes for every meal!
