continuing on through the alphabet.. my own little version

Suzie had a post the other day wish I had some words of wisdom.. that I commented on - words for her.... the post got me thinking and after a few emails between us, I realized that I am very good at giving 'advice' to others that alot of the time would help me as well, if only I would listen to my own words.....which to Suzie were "you know, sometimes I think we can focus too much on being spiritually enlightening and forget the real stuff (like salads) in our lives... the real stuff can be spiritual too, I think" and then in an email: "while creating that salad, you were in the image of the Goddess.... we are here, right now for whatever reason and I am beginning to believe that we must be 'here' in the moment... I strive hard to be spiritually enlightened by meditating etc.. but all the while, I am not in the moment doing whatever it is I am supposed to be doing. oh and while I am doing 'chores' or cooking or gardening, I feel at peace, so it must be right."....

Yesterday I spent about 5 hours in my garden, I ignored the housework and I put my boots on and got to work... I weeded, planted, raked leaves, turned compost and thoroughly enjoyed every minute, just like I am supposed to... enjoy every moment of my life.. and as I was gardening these words came to my mind:
"I love to watch the miracle of blossoms, bud & grow... I am nearer to God's heart in my garden, than any where else I know..."

each Wednesday I have been taking part in ABC Wednesday, the baby of
MrsNesbitt.... I find it difficult to follow the rules so I have opted out, I guess it is probably not fair on those people who do follow the rules if I just do my own thing... .... I think ABC Wednesday is a wonderful concept though !!!!.. I have fun walking around my garden each week, looking for bits for the letter of that week.. it gives me something to do on Wednesdays! So I am going to continue along the same lines.... my little take..... continuing on through the alphabet..we have K.....

first we have KOALA - this little one is mine... my dad bought it for me when I was about 8 or so... I remember him giving it to me and there was a big red bow around the neck... these were very popular in the 1960's and are now collectors items... it is made from kangaroo fur.. these days, they are made from synthetics and are made in China... and of course we should all be boycotting anything made in that country!! We all need to do as much as we can to let them know that the world will not put up with their inhumane treatment of the Tibetan people.

then we have KOOKABURRA... this one was my dads. It is a rattle and made from celluloid and I am guessing around 70 years old.. it is quite brittle and doesn't make a noise now but very precious to me....KOOKABURRA is an Australian kingfisher renowned for its harsh voice and call resembling human laughter.... then we have KWAN YIN..

a statue that Joe gave me for our anniversary last year... she sits in my bathroom on my altar...
next we have Harry Kewell.. who doesn't live in my home and I have never met him... but I think he is quite a 'dish'... he is an Australian soccer player who plays for the English Premier League and his surname starts with K..

but I think my own little Harry is even cuter.... and oneday, he may grow up to be a famous soccer player... when his dad was a teenager, he went to England to play for Middlesborough and could have become famous except he missed Australia.. so he came home.... my little Harry has his first soccer ball already, even if it is a soft one!
here he is at 10 days old... look at his dimples!!

He is just gorgeous!!! What a beautiful child to be sure.

I don't garden like you do but I feel the same way, walking through the woods. I think we are closer to Mother Earth there than anywhere...

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw your koala, I have one exactly the same that I got when I was about 3 - he's a lot the worse for wear and is gradually falling apart but I love him. I was amazed to see yours because I've never seen another one.

A "Kute" way to end the K's, with little kutie boy, Harry. That garden must be awesome by now. I'm glad you got to have some quite but productive time there. Mother Earth knows who her Children are whenever they spend time with her. She blesses them all for the attention she gets. You'll soon be putting all the gardens to bed for the winter. Then they will have their quiet time to rest and ferment and be ready for another season of growth and new life. Do those little bears hibernate like the big black and Brown and polars do? "To sleep perchance to dream...."mmmm Blessings, SR.K

Ohhh Robyn. Harry is soooo beautiful! I love the choices you did this week for K. I think it is wonderful that you follow your own rules. That is that is the way it should be. Make yourself happy then worry about everyone else It's your blog, and I enjoy visiting you every time !

It's funny how spiritually enlightening you can be when you're trying not to be spiritually enlightened, LOL. I appreciated your words a great deal and every time you reach out, you make a difference. That is true magick.

I often think of how yoga has become a workout to some cultures, that by "pushing" ourselves we are doing true yoga yet we forget that lying down and doing nothing is just as enlightening, perhaps more so.

I'm glad you spent time in the garden ignoring housework.

Well, what a small world! Our nearest team is in Middlesbrough. It was mis-spelt many years ago by the guy painting the sign for the Railway Station. It remains Middlesbrough! Or as we call it, the Boro!

Great post.

I find the K's that are unique to Australia very interesting.
However I especially love Kwan Yin...I call on her regularly as she is helps me find parking spaces.

The Koala and bird rattler are beautiful. It's so great to have something from your youth and especially from a parents youth. Have a great day !!!

Yes, we should all listen more to ourselves! Good you found that out. I mostly try not to listen to myself as there wasn’t much self-esteem for long times but I try to get better!
Little Harry is indeed cute and he will find his path – with or without soccer.
Did you know that the Kookaburra in German is called “Laughing Jack”?
Oh, and we have a little Koala, too, I sewed it from a kit. And there is even a little Wombat. Not to speak of the red Kangaroo with it’s little one. Oh and a Cattle Dog with a moving head…

Oh my gosh - he's adorable, and he looks like he's smiling already!

The best place in the world can be right in our own backyards... gardening has been on my mind a lot lately too.

Enjoy~XOXO

G'Day Robyn,
I have special things too that belonged to my Dad, and also some other bits and pieces that I treasure like a very old blue pressed glass vase belonging to my great grandmother. Some of my Dad's school books and sunday school awards from the 1930's. Your koala was common place when I was a child but you don't see them anymore do you, being real fur. Maybe I should try to use this as an excuse for not being able to throw out some of my silly memories and treasures from when I moved house.

It's a wonderful time to be in the garden ... more like Spring then Autumn. Keep on smiling back at Harry Dimples and enjoying the moment. Smiles & hugs *!*
