a peaceful & magickal Winter Solstice

I woke this morning to a perfect Winter Solstice... raining, misty and eerily still... a feeling of magick and contentment surrounded me.. I could feel it so well. Beside my computer sat a tiny baby spider, a pale beige colour, just hatched out of the egg.... a totem sign perhaps? it stayed with me all morning.

I went for a walk in Katoomba.. and saw the Green Man in a tree.. .. I am surrounded by signs as if I am being encouraged that I am on the right path. I feel good.

I cleaned my back verandah and hung a sprig of holly at the back door to encourage constant good fortune throughout the year.. my red candle will burn through out the night to welcome the Sun's return & along with the wreath I made last week at my Wise Womans gathering, it makes for a very festive home... these small acts that I perform in my temple are things that my ancestors and most probably myself in a past life, did..... it may be like play acting, but it brings me close to my ancestors, whose blood flows in my veins and if my heart is at peace doing this, then it is a good thing..

at 3.30 this afternoon, I prepared to make my way to my Sacred Space under the pine tree but just as I did, the rain pelted down and I had to change plans.. grabbing a cushion, the shawl that SweetPea gave me, some solstice incense, a candle and music.. I set up on my front verandah, to sit in silence at the exact & true moment of Winter Solstice - 3.45pm, then I closed my eyes & visualized Earth being surrounded in pure white light.. I saw my Earth Healing sisters all over the globe preparing for their time...I saw ribbons connecting us all, I saw myself on top of a high mountain and everywhere I looked the Earth was green and sparkling, waterfalls cascaded down like pure crystal energy. I connected to Earth down through my crown chakra to the Earth, sending healing energy..giving energy as She has done for me this life and in past times.. connecting with Her as my soul absolutely desires to.. the desire of connection being satisfied by this simple act. this was my Earth Healing ritual..

the Earth Healing circle is now manifest! starting here in Australia.. I received an email from a fellow wise woman: my dogs & I enjoyed a wonderful Earth Healing at around mid day today. ...
and it continues like a wave across the globe... and each Full Moon we will come together to do what we must.

thankyou to each and everyone of you who have taken part in this Solstice ritual.. believing that in this small token and love for our Mother, we each can do our part.. that is all that is asked of us..

to celebrate the Winter Solstice, I plan on roasting an organic chicken along with root vegetables & a small glass of celtic wine for dinner. Then sitting by the fire with Dutch husband.. surrounded by the twinkling light of candle light & winter solstice incense ... a meditation to finish of the day... then tucked up into bed, knowing the the Sun will be there tomorrow... as it always has been.

serendipity robyn! :-)

i visualised beams, ribbons of light too, rather like strands of DNA, with a life of their own, twisting and flowing and weaving in and out, enclosing Mother Earth in a cobweb of protection. my dawn would have been your afternoon, so across this world our ribbons probably met!

What a beautiful experience! It seems we are of the same leanings..:) I prefer the simple and uncluttered in my observances also...

I did get your email...sometimes my program gets overzealous and tells people their emails have bounced when they really haven't...who knows? Technology..friend or foe? A bit of both..I think...;)

I can't tell you how glad I am to have found this lovely place and to be a part of the healing circle...thank you so much for beginning this wonderful thing...

Blessed be my friend. I had an amazing night to.It is 8:13 Am hear now and I will be off to sleep soon. My candle was lit from 11:30 pm on. I greeted the sun and saw a star in day light. This was truly surreal. The grass sparkled all night with droplets of water. We went to the powwow last night and the energy abounded. I put some video on my Empty nester blog. And will have a special photo on my garden blog. Take care. And many blessings.

Blessed Solstice to you as you look toward the lengthening of the Sun, and we here celebrate the return of the Holly King as our days begin to creep ever shorter...

The magick in this world of ours is that we can now communicate so easily and be part of each other's daily rounds...and wonder about such things as seasonal differences...what one experiences vs. what the other one sees.

A mystery...magick...and I join you in the circle to heal the wrongs that Mother endures...and pray for Humankind to become wise and loving.

The blessings of Solstice on your home.

It sound wonderful.
It was quite first day of summer for me.
Which I'm thankful.
A safe white light around the earth is a great thing to protect and feed her (can't think of the other word to do with feed)
Coffee is on.

And, we all join you in our way. As the sun rose on our world, I too joined in surrounding the earth with a big light filled heart. Then, a special point of light directed to our brothers and sisters in a troubled Iran. Now that we are connected, we can't pretend we don't know and can't see the suffering upon Gaia and ways we can and must send Love and light and then walk gently intending to keep creating blessings as we go. A good and peacefilled Solstice to us all!

I joined you and will write a bit on my blog later, tho not so beautifully as you have written here.

Thank you for this powerful idea of us banding our energy and intention together this way.

My healing was very simple, and would have felt weak and useless to me, except that I knew it was part of a tidal wave of women who care deeply for the earth, and I felt a part of something great, and that it made my small efforts powerful.

What about a badge for our blogs? Linking back here to you. I think you are starting something really amazing here, and want to spread the word.

Love to you and your precious piece of earth there in the garden.

Thank you for finding me! I am not Cornish although my other half is. I am not much of a hedgewitch right now either really! A bit more hedge than witch. Maybe even not hedge although I still have my connection with nature...

Cornwall is a lovely place and I am sure you will love it very much when you get here, I love it lots. On my blog I have some posts tagged with Cornwall and these tend to have some photos of my favourite places....

Whereabouts do your ancestors come from?

Sorry I missed your Solstice Earth Healing....

wondeful, your post gave me shivers :)

the odd thing happened here~i could suddenly hear lots of voices in the distance~almost like cheering, celebrating and it only went on for a few moments. at the time i wondered if it was the new forest druid group having a gathering, now i wonder if it was the sound of all of us? maybe the energy created made the joyful noises?!

Happy (belated) Solstice to you! It sounds like a beautiful way to observe the occasion, and to end the day in front of the fire with candles and incense...perfect. I like to keep it pretty simple too. We had mulled wine, and an awful lot of Solstice cake : )

Love that image of the Green Man in the tree!

Peace and best wishes.

Solstice blessings to one and all. It would seem that we have all been doing pretty much the same thing... it must be instinctive... it certainly felt right to do it and to be part of something so powerful and positive ... we must continue :-) x

Anything with Tre at the beginning is very Cornish! My fiance is a Pascoe and the rumour is that this name was started when a Spanish fisherman started a family here and the name means of the Pasc or some such which came from Spain. He has dark hair and a slightly darker than average as well as skin that tans easily. Plenty of Cornish folk have black hair and darker complexions.... So very possible he had some Spanish blood.

Cornwall was far, far more multicultural, far earlier than the rest of England because of the metals here.

As to whether or not your family practiced some of the cunning crafts - I would find it hard to believe they hadn't. The Cornish, although Christian, clung onto an older form of Christianity known as Celtic Christianity which was a lot less Roman Catholic and a lot more mystical. Much old lore remains down here or is still in the memory of those who live and is being revived.

Cornwall is a fascinating place and I feel proud to live here. I am glad you are proud of your Cornish roots!

A wonderful solstice post, Robyn. We here are celebrating Summer solstice, yet we seem to have the same weather-gray and misty!
