itch, scratch, itch.. more than you needed to know

the past week, I have broken out in hives. And in my wisdom, I thought I would dab eucalyptus oil onto the spots. what was I thinking? I had a severe allergic reaction and am now covered in red welts. and itching. it is driving me demented. I have the look of an old mangy flea ridden dog. I have been using cortison cream to calm it down but even that is not really helping.. polaramine puts me into a state near comatose.
I haven't felt much like blogging, let alone visiting other blogs and commenting.. so I am taking a break til this calms down... this weekend, I am off to the Gypsy Caravan for a weekend away from madness that has been my life for the past month. Hopefully the nervous rash will go.
I miss visiting blogs and admit that I feel guilty because I haven't been the perfect blogging friend.. a thankyou to all of you who have been visiting me here xo ... I have been playing on facebook a little because I find that mindless.. Paul continues to improve because of YOUR prayers and thoughts.. thankyou xo

the past week, I have been puttering around my home and gardening when I feel like it. Cabbages and broccoli are flourishing in my vegie garden and broad beans are popping the first shoots out of the ground. Peas and leeks will hopefully go in next week.

Get well soon Robyn. Getting away to the Gypsy Caravan will do you both the world of good - it's been so stressful lately, no wonder you have broken out in hives.I am so happy your brother-in-law continues to feel better. I am keeping him in my thoughts. Much love to you, and enjoy your break.

Facebook IS mindless, I think that's why it's so popular. No expectations, no blogs to 'have' to visit or write.
It's a good way to keep in touch without having to, it's the choice of the individual.
Having said all that, I really do hope your rash leaves you in peace for your weekend away!!

Oh, Robyn that sounds terrible! I hope by now you're getting some relief. Enjoy your weekend away.

I must apologize for not visiting much lately either. I seem to spend every free moment in the studio....even my hubby is complaining he never sees me!!

I hope you have so much fun taking a break with 'Gypsy Caravan!' sounds delightful!!
I haven't been doing much blogging, either - seems to be in the air!

I have a client who had a funny patch on her back (prob yeast) for about the last 6 years, just a narrow little 'finger' under her bra -- since I began using coconut oil for massage, & she's begun using it in her diet, the patch is getting fainter & fainter!! She had tried tea tree oil - made it worse, scrubbing with salt - made it MUCH worse, etc.
You might try a tiny bit on a small area & see if it makes any difference!! I am so enjoying eating coconut & the oil again - what was I thinking, believing the hype about it being 'bad' ???

Hope you are feeling better. Do you have Aloe Vera there? I have some growing in my yard, which I use for skin irritations. Wish I could send you some.

So glad that Paul is on the mend. I've just dug out a new area for my vege garden, hoping to transplant the tomatoes and herbs, then hopefully plant some new seeds once it gets cooler here.

I had hives for a few summers in Junee, don't know what caused them but they are gone now. They drive you mad don't they. Happy birthday little fella and good to hear that things are looking more positive for Paul.I made your Autumn cake cake, but used marmalade on top instead of apricot jam which I was out of. T'was good anyway.

Thanks for stopping by the 'Vale' :) Hope your hives are gone! & that you're getting a bit of a rest - all nice.

Yes, whole OG food is so great, isn't it?! I have been cutting back on soy since re-reading some of the info on dangers (& things like soy oil & TVP, even if GM free, are a recent addition to our diet - fermented foods like tofu or Braggs (like soy sauce) are more traditional uses)
Several years ago a girlfriend with heart probs was told by her lady doc to avoid soy! - It depresses the thyroid & is 'goiteregenic' (can cause goiter) - Oregon is one of those areas with little iodine in the soil, (glaciated) so we already have to watch that!
Coconut supports the thyroid, & helps a host of problems!
