WAKE UP WORLD !!!!

PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION STOP WHALING !

follow Greenpeace & the Esperanza on board the Esperanza

I wasn't going to post today... but I just heard on the news that the Japanese whaling fleet is on its way to the South Pacific to slaughter 1000 whales, they intend killing more than 1000 whales in the name of science, including 50 endangered humpbacks . I am so angry but even more - I am sad. What is the need to slaughter these gorgeous animals? Scientific research the Japanese say. that is just pure bullshit (and I make no apologies for swearing here) ..something needs to be done... it is time that the whole world woke up to all of this endless killing of our gorgeous, gorgeous Earth and her 'peoples' . I wonder if protests or signing petitions ever work or if these kind of people just bulldoze through life having no thought except for themselves and how much money they can make from doing something like this... it is a well known fact that the sushi business is a very profitable one. what can one person in Woodford do, really? is there any hope at all?

The hope lies in people like you and me and anyone else who cares. As long as we are around to send our voices out, the hope of a peaceful and united future exists. Silence and apathy speak of darkness. With your passion and compassion a light is lit and we may all be lead by its path.

This appalling news has been on TV and in the papers here also - I find the whole business sickening but like you feel totally helpless - how can I affect the decisions of governments and multi-million pound industries? This pathetic excuse of 'sciemtific research' is, as you say, total bullshit. Greenpeace and all the other activists have my moral support in their endeavours to halt this atrocity, they are brave people.

I think that's what Government's want us little people to feel, like it's all beyond us but we have to get behind those who put themselves between the harpoons and whales. I just posted my bit too but the protest link to the Japanese Fisheries is no longer on the page I lodged my protest last week, wonder who asked for that to be removed *!*

With all the horrid things humanity seems to do to them and their environment, is it really any wonder the poor things are beaching themselves, or wandering up inland waterways? I just read about a small whale, being spotted in the Amazon river, a 1000 miles away from the Atlantic ocean - probably trying to find some where safe from all the carnage. sigh.

Thank you Robyn so much for taking the time to let us know about this latest appalling situation, and an action we can take to help stop it. I don't know if petitions are ever enough in and of themselves, but one can only hope with enough outrage, it will eventually hit them in the pocketbook, and become unprofitable for them to continue.
What a sad situation it is, that hitting them economically seems to be the only way to get corporations and governments to act morally.
Thank you again, my friend for doing your part. ((Hugs))
Love and light to you - and our world.

I always wonder if protests and signing petitions works either. the days of civil rights in the 60's and marching by the thousands are gone and what seems to be disjointed and fractured efforts seem futile. Sigh..not trying to sound discouraging..just saying I understand.

I hadn't heard of this, but then seal hunting is accepted here so what do you expect..!
I will sign, but I wonder if these things carry any weight, since their bottom line is and always will be the only thing that matters.

I saw this on the news and sure hope I don't come across as a bigot or making excuses for anther cultures.

Japanese have a different out look on life in spiritual sense of it.
I recall a thing I heard when they go out for tuna and they have a large number of dolphin caught in net and I would guess they think that all others don't have feeling.

Hi Robyn - just caught our evening news and saw the Japanese dockside celebrations of the crew and families as they got ready for departure. I wonder if they show the children how Whales are caught before they serve them Whale for school lunch.

Its on the news here too, and makes me want to cry. Sometimes I am ashamed to be a human being.

I have been priviledged enough to see a great blue whale at sea, when I was aboard an oil tanker.
It was an amazing sight, never to be forgotten.
My pleasure to sign the petition.

The only thing you can do is let yourself be heard. I will sign the petition. They have to leave those beautiful creatures alone !!!!

All done...As I was away yesterday with my sister, have not checked any tv news to see whats happening.
unfortunately i bought myself a copy of the Guardian newspaper and there was an article (which i only skimmed) on how tigers are being kept just for the 'body parts' they can provide.

my heart bleeds at this dreadful world we live in.

I don't think my comment got through so will do another one. I signed the petition, Robyn. I didn't know this slaughter was happening until I read your blog, Bimbimbie's and Nature Girl's.
