various bits - as Daisy would say - a scrap bag post

the wind continued to blow a hell of a gale last night. Late afternoon, yesterday, I was out getting some wood for our fire and noticed that a branch had snapped on my lemon tree, the one I had posted about a few days ago. I was so sad and angry at the wind. I shook my fist at the gods! I also felt like kicking something. This wind is unusual - we usually get our winds in August. I don't even know what direction the wind is coming from - one minute from the west, the next from the south. They are so strong, sometimes it feels like our house is going to blow of the foundations. Then I would really be like Dorothy in Oz!

Joe & I are off for the weekend - to a small town out west called Coolah - this side of the Black Stump. The black stump? I hear you say. Yes - beyond the black stump is a favourite old Aussie saying. It basically means beyond the back blocks, far off in the backcountry, far from civilization. Like other early Aussie sayings such as Never-Never country and beyond the Wallaby, beyond the black stump was an attempt to describe and give a sense of place, to what many believed was indescribable - those endless plains of inland Australia.

I can remember when I was little and we were off on holidays, asking my dad where we were going and he would always include the Black Stump - either this side of it, or just past it... so it is something I grew up with. sooo, I would sit up straight on the back seat of our car, looking out the window for the Black Stump...... funny how you remember things. I was such a serious little girl, my nan worried about me so much - giving me various tonics to cheer me up.

& thankyou for leaving comments. It really makes my day to think that someone is reading and taking the time to give their thoughts on my prattle.

*~* I hope your day is filled with butterflies, magick, colour & fripparies! ~*~

I could use some of Nan's tonics right about now. Woke up with a huge cold sore. Deees-gusting.
So, the winds of change are definately a-blowing! Enjoy your trip out past the black stump! You deserve it.
Oh, and I was and still am a serious little girl. Is there any cure for it?

Your black stump sounds a bit like us saying we were out in the boondocks meaning Rural country; the backwoods. I hope you take a camera and bring back some photos, so we can see some of your country.
Take care and have fun.

Have fun on your weekend away with Joe!

I tend to be too serious these days. As a girl, I was bubbly and in love with life.

I LOVE reading your "ramblings" I don't always have a lot to say but I'm the same in reality as well. I always read and enjoy.

Just love to read about all the things I'll never see because I live on the other side of the world!!!
