when I was a little girl, whenever my mum & dad had a fight, I would go outside. It was usually at night.. I would take myself outside and sit under the big old gum tree and fall deep into the abyss of the dark night sky, looking up at the stars. Those stars made me feel safe. the twinkles and sparkles made me believe that magick was up there, shining down on me. protecting me... each one sprinkling stardust. And when my ex-husband left me, I did the same thing.. I went outside and sat under the stars, my heart breaking. The Wise Men followed a star and I followed mine: as I sat under those stars, with a broken heart, they whispered that my soul mate had not yet come.. they would lead me to him..and with those whispers, my heart began to heal.. and after awhile, I found my Star in the body of Dutch husband.Stars are magick, and to me they are a safety net. when I look up into the big night sky, I feel a sense of protection, a sense of safety.
and the surprise that Dutch husband gave me last weekend?
owned by a long time little girl of unknown origins... did she sit out under those same stars and wonder? what brings you a sense of safety?.. what brings a sense of safety to your world?
So nice to hear of your happy ending...or should I say nice beginning! Any man that would bring his wife wings is an angel!!!
ReplyDeleteI was listening to perry como yesterday - and catch a falling star is one of his oldies hits! beautiful wings..... now make that wish!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a dear the Dutch Husband is and I'm so glad you have these to love. What brings me safety? My Lion, Michael. Husbands, when they are the right ones are the best ones. We are lucky, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteOh, Robyn! What a PRECIOUS and touching gift! Awwwwwwwwwwww. Made me teary eyed to read this uniquely special memory.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post to go along with those lovely wings, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThis is gentle and magical, so beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteAnd if any girlfriends ever say they want a husband, I am sending them to the Netherlands to look. Dutch Husband is a gem.
They are so pretty! What a beautiful present. I like being stood on top of big hills at night watching the lights below. I used to do that as a kid, take my dog and walk up the hill.... I always felt clean afterwards...
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find a man who would buy you fairy wings? What a lucky girl you are... so jealous.
ReplyDeleteSigh, just such a wonderful post. What a very special pair of wings, I know you will treasure them always Robyn. Now I am wondering who was the little girl that owned them? I'm sure she would be thrilled to know you are the proud owner. What an Angel Dutch Husband is. Linda xoxo
ReplyDeleteThose wings are beautiful. What a nice present!
ReplyDeleteThe stars are very healing. I don't find myself looking up at them as often as I would like, but I love to see the twinkling gems placed against a sky so dark it feels like those stars are the only lights in the whole universe.
Now you can fly among the magical stardust anytime you want and with a happy heart.

Beautiful and what a lucky lady you are!!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is my safety. I feel totally safe with him. I have never felt safe with anyone else in my life.
What a lovely post. You are a poet...
ReplyDeleteWhat gives me a sense of safety and connection? Going out in the open air and the countryside, the more open the better. Also, being in Kew Gardens at night. This really baffles my colleagues who all find our workplace creepy after dark. I just can't find it so; it is magical to be out among all those breathing presences of trees, this little corner of wild woodland and Mother Earth energy, softly quiet and stirring under the stars in the middle of West London, with foxes and badgers passing among the trees and the silken needles of deciduous conifers stroking your arm as you brush by...
cats make me feel safe. As does carrying a large stick. :)
ReplyDeleteI have always loved looking at the stars, ever since I was a child. I can also remember first seeing the Northern Lights when I was nine and finding them utterly magical.
ReplyDeleteA touching post Robyn.Twinkling stars are so magical. Thanks for your recent comment. I've emailed you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a guy! He brought you wings! Now that's romantic.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully sensitive man your husband is to know that the perfect gift for you is star adorned wings....
ReplyDeleteAngels and Stars have been working their magic on me this week as well.
xx
This is a very sensitive and open post, Robyn. Thank you for revealing a part of your self and sharing those glimpses with us.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear those magical stars brought you a comfort, safety and happiness, Robyn. What a very thoughtful hubby you have to have gifted you with those beautiful wings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful gift!! *sniffle*
ReplyDeleteNothing like lying back and being drawn into the night sky.....sheer manna for the soul..
what a lovely gift you received from an attuned hubby!
ReplyDeletei listen to the whispers of the wise ones too.
lotus flowers, budding blossoms in the moonlight, and the pitter-patter of paws all bring me healing and solace.
This post is beautiful, Robyn.
ReplyDeleteI think it was so courageous of you to share the origin of your safe object *and* the unsafe (at least emotionally) situation that brought about the association in the first place. And just look what you have done with that energy, all these years later! Created something lovely and whimsical and with a whole lot of soul... and your man gave you a beautiful and symbolic gift in recognition of it : ) Awesome.
what a lovely gift robyn!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post. I love that stars and the night sky make you feel safe and protected. When I am upset, ofttimes I've gone and sat outside under the moon & stars and it has soothed my troubled mind. Thank you for reminding me that I have this safe place available.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little fairy wings-- your husband is so sweet!
